Robinsons of Stilton owned by Ufford woman wins award at British Pie Awards in Melton Mowbray
A pie maker has triumphed at a national awards.
Robinsons of Stilton, which is owned by Carole Darlow from Ufford, took home the top prize for cold-eating savoury pie at the British Pie Awards in Melton Mowbray last week.
The filling of the winner included chicken and ham while Robinsons of Stilton’s pork pies, orchard pies and pickle pies all won bronze awards.
Carole described being ‘very proud’ at the results.
“I think what sets us apart is the love which goes into the pies, they are all handmade,” she said.
Carole has always been involved in the family business and took over Robinsons of Stilton eight years ago.
The pies can be bought locally from Drift Road Nisa in Stamford, Barrowden Community Store, and Wansford Stores.
Rutland gluten-free caterer Kavanagh’s also won an honour at the British Pie Awards.
A record 147 judges were this year picked for the pie-oneering awards which featured more than 1,000 entries in 24 different classes.
The panel included representatives from Harrods and Selfridges, and the chef of King Charles.
