Aberdeen House Care Home in Uppingham is closing

Care home residents are being forced to move out after the owner of their accommodation announced its imminent closure.

Eight people live at Aberdeen House Care Home in Uppingham.

Just before Christmas, Aberdeen Care Ltd, the owner, announced the home was having financial problems.

Having been notified on December 21 of the owner’s decision to close the home in Stockerston Road, Rutland County Council is now helping to put alternative care arrangements in place to meet the needs of the eight residents.

This must happen before the home is closed and de-registered on Wednesday (January 3).

Kim Sorsky, strategic director for adults and health at Rutland County Council, said: “We’ve acted quickly following confirmation of the closure.

“We are in contact with the home’s residents and their families to provide support and reassurance. We are also supporting the care home manager and staff.

“We will continue to work closely with all affected residents and their families to find alternative placements for people to move to.”
