Ollerton Town Football Club confirms departure of management team in the Northern Counties East League and the Nottinghamshire based side will be looking for their sixth manager in under 12 months
A football club has invited expressions of interest for what will be at least their sixth manager in less than 12 months.
Ollerton Town confirmed the departure of joint management team Craig Collins and Tom Chambers yesterday (Sunday, December 31) on social media.
It has been confirmed that the management duo Craig Collins and Tom Chambers will leave their post after Saturday’s home game against Worsbrough Bridge.
Club chairman Liam Kent said: “This has been a very difficult decision for everyone to come to, we all have the utmost respect for Craig and Tom for the job they have done so far this season.
"We all wanted a different outcome, and I cannot think of a pair more deserving of success.
“Unfortunately, the results have not been what any of us wanted and after some honest and mature discussions over the past few weeks about the direction of the football club, we have amicably concluded that it is best for all parties if we now go our separate ways.
“At the heart of these discussions at all times was the welfare of Ollerton Town Football Club which sums up both Craig and Tom.
"The fact they have agreed to give us one more game to help with the transition epitomises what they are about.
"They leave with all of our thanks, and they will always be welcome here at Walesby Lane."
Kent added that the pair had agreed to take one of the hardest jobs in Northern Counties East League football and had shown fantastic commitment during their time at Ollerton Town.
However, he said it was now the time to bring in fresh ideas in the hope of maximising what is left of the 2023-2024 season.
It also gives the club an early path towards planning for the next campaign.
The club currently sits in last place on the Northern Counties East League Division One table with relegation highly likely.
One of the biggest achievements the current management pair fulfilled on the pitch was the breaking of a 196-day winless streak when their squad defeated Swallownest 3-2 in September.
Ollerton Town is now seeking applications for the open first-team manager position, interested parties should email chairman@ollertontownfc.co.uk
Kent said that realistic ambitions would be set for the remainder of the campaign with a focus on putting building blocks in place ahead of the 2024-2025 season.
The club hopes to have an appointment in place in time for their game against Armthorpe Welfare on January 16.
