Polebrook Primary School near Oundle receives good Ofsted rating

A primary school has been rated good in its first Ofsted inspection since it reopened as an academy.

Caring staff and pupils who are ‘a credit to the school’ earned Polebrook Primary School near Oundle a good Ofsted rating.

Inspectors, who visited in September, also found it to be inclusive and welcoming, and a place where pupils feel happy and safe.

One parent told the inspector: “You can tell the staff care, and you can’t fake that.”

Classrooms are busy and purposeful, and are a place where pupils are encouraged to think independently, according to the report.

The school promotes pupils’ spiritual, social, moral and cultural development and staff organise events such as reading festivals, residential trips, immersion days for science and mathematics, and visits to local nursing homes.

Pupils know and embrace the school’s Christian and British values.

To improve, the school needs to make sure all staff know how best to check pupils’ understanding before moving on.

Polebrook Primary School converted to an academy in November 2020 after becoming part of The Rutland Learning Trust.
