Planned engineering work to affect London–Nottingham services this weekend

Rail passengers travelling between Nottingham and London St Pancras are being advised to check their journeys ahead of weekend engineering work.

East Midlands Railway (EMR) will close all lines between Leicester and Kettering on Saturday, July 19, and Sunday, July 20, affecting services that usually run through Market Harborough.

Trains between London and Nottingham will be diverted via Corby and operate on a reduced timetable, with just one train per hour on the route. Journey times will be extended and trains will not stop at Market Harborough.

A replacement bus service will run between Kettering and Leicester, calling at Market Harborough.

Several Nottingham–London services on Sunday will also begin at East Midlands Parkway, with buses replacing early-morning trains from Nottingham.

While the Oakham line appears to remain open, passengers changing at Leicester or travelling through the affected area may experience longer journey times or reduced connections.

EMR has advised travellers to plan ahead using the National Rail Enquiries Journey Planner.

Passengers using replacement services should allow extra time and expect buses to be busier than usual.
