Captain Noel Newton Wetherspoon pub in Oakham to hold 12-day beer festival
A range of real ales, including five from international brewers, will be available during a 12-day beer festival.
The Captain Noel Newton Wetherspoon pub in High Street, Oakham will host the festival from Wednesday, March 5 to Sunday, March 16 inclusive.
The overseas brewers, all women, are from Italy, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and USA and their beers on sale during the festival are new to the pub.
A number of beers have been brewed exclusively for the festival, which will feature a range of different malt and hop varieties from around the world, plus beers that include cherries and cocoa beans in their ingredients. Some are suited to vegans and all festival beers cost £1.99 a pint.
Three third-of-a-pint tasters will also be available for the price of a pint.
The international beers are Hey Pal from Terrapin Brewery, USA; Estuary Session Ale from the Land and Sea Brewery, Canada; Wallaby from Penny Red Brewery, Australia; Chocolate Porta from Birra Perugia Brewery, Italy; and Antiopdean from Brew Moon Brewery, New Zealand.
The festival line-up also includes Alpha Female from Rooster’s, Loopy Loo from Batemans, Chase the Sun from Vale, Cherry Nice by Greene King, Queen of Hearts from St Austell, Mocha Porter from Elgood’s, Grand Union by Hook Norton, and Blossom from Black Sheep.
Tasting notes on all of the beers will be available in the pub.
Pub manager Cayley Stubbins said: “The festival is a great celebration of real ale. It will allow us to showcase a selection of superb beers, featuring beers not previously available to our customers in the pub, including those from brewers as far afield as Australia and New Zealand, as well as those closer to home.”
