Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham, hosts The Halle 80s Big Night Out and Come And Sing with John Rutter

Members of The Hallé orchestra will be pulling on their leg warmers and heading back to the Eighties at the Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham, next week.

The Halle 80s Big Night Out, which takes place a week today, will give a classic twist to some of the greatest hits from the decade of pop.

It includes Rhythm Is Gonna Get You, Never Gonna Give You Up, Thriller, Copacabana and The Final Countdown.

Joining the orchestra on stage to provide the vocals are Alison Jiear, who appeared on Britain’s Got Talent, and Oliver Tompsett, from We Will Rock You.

Eighties dress code is optional, but encouraged.

Before that, on Sunday, there is the chance to Come And Sing With John Rutter.

Led by the celebrated conductor, accompanied by Neil Taylor, this is a workshop for those who love singing, and can read a bit of music.

Music will be a mixture of old and new, including some of John Rutter’s own well-loved choral works.

The workshop starts at 2pm.

Non-singers are welcome to go along and watch.
