Summer line up of free activities set to take place in Weston, Sutton Bridge, Gosberton, Crowland and Spalding
If you are stuck with what to do over your summer holidays, why not try out the variety of free activities taking place across our area?
The communities team at South Holland District Council have compiled a schedule of free family friendly events to enjoy over the summer break.
After previously proving popular with visitors, ‘Activate’ is set to take place on Wednesday, August 2, at Weston Playing Field between 11am and 3pm.
The event has been a hit over recent years and focuses on giving children and young people an opportunity to try out new sports and arts activities for free. Some of these activities will include a mobile climbing wall, arts and crafts, nature lab, garden games and more.
There will be two further ‘Activate’ groups held at Sutton Bridge Memorial Park on Wednesday, August 16, and Gosberton House Academy School Field on Wednesday, August 23, both of these events will take place between 11am and 3pm.
Enjoy learning how to skate and scooter with help from skateboarding experts at this free activity on Tuesday, August 8.
‘Skate Jam’ will be held at Crowland Skate Park between 10am and 3pm and will be led by Team Rubicon who are the UK’s leading provider of skateboarding and scooter coaching. All ages and abilities are welcome.
Returning for another year of fun will be the ‘Give it a Go’ event which is set to take place on Sunday, August 13, at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field.
The event will offer visitors a range of activities throughout the day which will include different sports clubs and community groups from the area offering different workshops and demonstrations.
Coun Andrew Woolf will also be hosting a ‘Tug O War’ competition in aid of Blood Cancer UK and Mencap.
Coun Tracey Carter who is the Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Communities and Operational Housing said: “The team has worked hard to make sure we have something for everyone to enjoy and get involved with, as well as the hundreds of other activities taking place across South Holland.
“ I’m thrilled that as a council we’re again able to offer such a wide variety of events for local families across the district this summer.”
