Gosberton Risegate musician's songs on Auburn's Game of Faith album
Auburn's Game of Faith was recorded in Nashville but the songs were penned close to home by Gosberton Risegate musician Liz Lenten.
It's a captivating blend of Americana - with hints of country, blues and roots music - while the subjects are universal.
The loss of Liz's dearly-loved mum, Sheila Lenten, inspired Misshapen Fruit while other songs look at subjects ranging from a one night stand to a broken-hearted drunk.
First and foremost this album bristles with outstanding musicianship - it's a band so good that you could strip out the vocals and just listen in awe.
The stand out track for me was the upbeat Prosecco-fuelled profiles, a tale of the search for a perfect man.
It's one of those rare pieces of music that you love in an instant and you do so from the opening bars.
The second big pleaser on the album, Spoke in the Wheel, is about a less than perfect man with a barbed lyric "you are just filling a space, you will disappear without trace, won't you?"
There's a light touch from Liz with her sensitive and heartfelt vocals and all in all it's a good one to add to your collection.
