ALBUM REVIEW: The Night Cafe - 0151

This is the debut full-length album from band The Night Café.

Hailing from Liverpool, the four piece are described as an indie band and this is a chilled out offering.

Their first album features an impressive 18 tracks and musically, it’s beautiful, but I wanted to feel the music do a little more.

Following first track ‘0151 Intro,’ it’s straight into the main start of the album with the track ‘Finders Keepers’. The pretty guitar parts are very prevalent in the whole album and much of the music reminded me of that of indie/emo band Death Cab for Cutie.

If you’re looking for something chilled out and easy to put on in the background this could be it.

However, each time I listened to the album I didn’t find any tracks that particularly stood out for me.

My main issue is with the vocals. Sean Martin is the lead singer but his vocals seem to blend into the music so much that I cannot make out what he is saying.

Luckily, there are sleeve notes in the CD case with the lyrics for those struggling like me.

It’s still early days for the band, though, and I’m sure they’ll do well in their genre. Good luck to them.
