Artist to hold exhibition and workshop at Barnsdale Gardens in Rutland




An artist who focuses on the power and importance of nature through her art will hold an exhibition and workshop.

Marie-Therese King will exhibit at Barnsdale Gardens in Rutland from June 17 to July 2.

Marie-Thérèse's exhibition of batik work is open to all and is free with garden admission.

She describes herself as a non-digital designer, creating batik textile designs inspired by her passion for British wildlife, in particular birds, butterflies, insects and wild flowers, using the ancient Indonesian art-form of layering melted wax and water based dyes on Indonesian cotton to create vibrant paintings.

She teaches workshops in printmaking, cyanotype, batik and collage and will soon be hosting a workshop at Barnsdale Gardens.

Her work has attracted attention from celebrities across the arts, world of gardening and even royalty, from being featured on an episode of Grand Designs with Kevin McCloud to hosting Monty Don to sign a particular designed piece on her RHS show, to having a print presented to Princess Anne,
