Spalding's Joey Lowe aims to bring people together through art

‘I’m strong for everyone’ - that’s the message behind new work by a Spalding artist.

Joey Lowe (28), who by day works in coffee shop Caffè Nero at Springfields Shopping Outlet, is holding an exhibition of his art across three venues from this weekend.

Described as ‘abstract’ his work is aimed at bringing people together and creating a conversation.

He said: “It came about by looking at the town and how we were talking about a lack of ‘community’ feel and not being there for one another. It is not like how we used to be.

“People are not being there for their neighbour and not sharing as a community.

“We need to be strong for each other; we need to check up on each other.”

Art began as a hobby for Joey. He said: “It started as a pastime to keep myself busy. I have worked in the theatre and I started to teach myself how to paint.”

His work uses vibrant colours and strong brush strokes to portray his feelings and emotions.

The mini tour of his artwork will be exhibited at St Paul’s Church in Holbeach Road, Spalding, from Friday, October 4, until Sunday, October 6.

It will also be on show in Caffè Nero at Springfields on Wednesday, October 9, and on Sunday, October 20, at Springfields Events Centre in Spalding.
