Applications for the St Hugh’s Foundation For The Arts Awards are now open for artists in Lincolnshire

Are you an artist? Or do you know an artist in the area?

Applications are now open for a charity’s annual awards programme with bigger prizes than before.

St Hugh’s Foundation for The Arts is welcoming applicants as it begins the hunt for the next recipients of its Artists Respond Awards.

The organisation has been supporting creative people in greater Lincolnshire and other areas for more than 30 years by recognising and adapting to modern-day issues that artists face today, including access to public funding.

Seven awards are up for grabs, six coming with a grant of £2,500 and one (The Claire Peasnall Memorial Award) coming with £1,000, to help the winner focus on their practice.

Tanya Akrofi, chairperson of St Hugh's and former award recipient, said: “For artists and creatives living in Lincolnshire, Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire, the funding landscape has become quite difficult to navigate.

“This adds an extra layer of pressure and work for people who were already finding it a challenge to pursue their craft.

“At St Hugh's, our goal is to support creatives, not only with our grants, but also in terms of ongoing mentoring and guidance to enable them to meet these challenges – the more artists we support, the richer the landscape becomes.”

The honour is exclusively available to those who live in Lincolnshire, the City of Hull or East Riding of Yorkshire.

To apply, an online form can be completed at https://www.sthughsfoundation.co.uk/awards

There artists can explain how they would use the grant if they were successful. The deadline for applications is March 4.
