Bingham and District Choral Society gearing up for Christmas and new year concerts




A choral society has a programme of musical entertainment lined up ­— including its Christmas concert.

This year the Bingham and District Choral Society Christmas concert falls right at the beginning of the Christmas week.

It will take place at St Mary’s Church, Bingham, at 7.30pm on Saturday, December 17.

The choir will be joined for the by the Carnarvon School Choir for the first time since the pandemic, as well as Bingham Brass providing the essential Christmas sound.

Organsist Michael Overbury will accompany the choir through a traditional combination of seasonal songs, short choral and instrumental pieces and carols.

Tickets are £10 available from Deborah, on 07974 838306, Bingham Library, or Pen2Paper, Radcliffe-on-Trent.

A glass of wine or a soft drink and mince pies will be served during the interval.

In the new year, on Wednesday, January 4, the society will begin rehearsals for a joint concert with Southwell Choral Society.

The two choirs will perform Vaughan Williams’ Sea Symphony to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of Ralph Vaughan Williams.

The concert will be held at Southwell Minster on Saturday, April 1.

Rehearsals take place each Wednesday from 7.15pm to 9.30pm at Carnarvon Primary School, Bingham.
