Classic children’s tale The Railway Children pulls into Southwell Minster’s Palace Gardens tomorrow evening (August 19) for an open air adaptation of the timeless Edith Nesbit novel.

Bring picnics, chairs or rugs, families and friends and enjoy outdoor theatre with This Is My Theatre company.

When their father has to leave their London home unexpectedly, Roberta, Phyllis and Peter leave London and travel with their mother to start a new life in rural Yorkshire.

Their love of trains and the nearby railway line lead to new friendships and adventures but the mystery of why their father doesn’t return remains and they must find out and help him come home.

While written more than a century ago, this charming children’s novel still inspires all ages and with folk music throughout, everyone will have their hearts warmed with this captivating adaptation.

Doors open 5.30pm, with the production starting at hour later at 6.30pm so people can enjoy picnics beforehand. It is due to end at 8pm
