Spalding town centre Christmas event aims to bring festive fun
A sprinkle of festive magic will be dusted over Spalding at the town’s Christmas event this weekend.
The popular annual event takes place in the town centre on Saturday from 11am until 5pm and will be offering a range of activities for families to enjoy.
Visitors can expect live entertainment, games, competitions, seasonal food, gifts and crafts. There will also be a fancy dress competition taking place on the day – with the winner getting the chance to turn on the Christmas tree lights after the carols by candlelight at 4.30pm.
Father Christmas will be making a stop at 'Santa's Grotto' in Calthrops Solicitors to spread some festive joy at the South Holland District Council-run event.
There is also the chance to meet the cast for the South Holland Centre’s pantomime, Beauty and the Beast as well as real life princess Rapunzel.
Councillor Tracey Carter said: "The team has been hard at work organising the event which has a little something for everyone to enjoy.
"Not only will this event be popular with local families looking for activities over the Christmas holidays, it will also help support our wonderful high street businesses and market traders at this vital time of year; I'd like to encourage as many residents and visitors to come along to this event so we can make it a real success."
The event will also see the relaunch of the ‘Elf Trail’. Shoppers will have until Saturday, December 30, to find all of the elves hiding in and around the shops in the town for the chance to win a range of vouchers.
As part of this event Market Place, Hall Place, Sheep Market and Gore Lane will be closed from 6.30am until 6.30pm on Saturday, November 25. Sheep Market car park will also be closed from 5pm on Friday, November 24 until Saturday, November 25 at 7.30pm.
