Flower festival season is nearly here in South Holland
The spring flower festival season is almost upon us once again as churches from all around the district prepare their bouquets and bunches, writes Patrick Walsh.
The theme for St Mary’s Flower Festival, in Long Sutton, is 'Shape Up', taking inspiration from ideas of resurrection, new life, hope and glory. St Mary’s is raising money for work on the building coming up to its 850th anniversary in 2020.
Donington's St Mary and the Holy Rood Church follows themes of ‘memories’ and Moulton All Saints' theme is ‘Around the World in Forty Displays.’
Other churches also participating in the festival include St Mary’s in Pinchbeck (‘In the Beginnings..’) and St Mary's, Sutterton, (‘Scarecrows and their Partners’) along with St Peter and St Paul in Gosberton (‘Celebrating Great Britain'.)
Many of the flower festivals are taking place from April 27 until around May 6.
More details of other churches taking part can be found at the Churches Together in Spalding and district website here.
