Life in Medieval Leicester - 7.30pm, Barrowden Village Hall. Matthew Morris, project officer from University of Leicester Archaeological Services, discusses the latest archaeological evidence for post-Roman settlement at Leicester; from castles and abbeys to lost parish churches and coaching inns. Katharine of Aragon Festival - 11am, commemoration service, Peterborough Cathedral; 2pm, Tudor Peterborough Walk from Peterborough Museum; 5.30pm, Cathedral Choir sing Vespers; 6.30pm - 8.30pm, a Cathedral open evening with Henry VIII, Katharine of Aragon and numerous courtiers in period costumes. 9pm, the sung monastic service of Compline. Katharine of Aragon Festival - 10am to 4pm, Peterborough Museum - Children’s activities including meeting Tudor characters, trying out food and finding out about life for people in the 1500s. Family tickets are £12 and can be purchased on the door. Last entry is at 3.30pm. 10am, Family service, Peterborough Cathedral for children to commemorate Katharine. This is followed by At Court with the Tudors, a day of craft activities such as making a ‘King on a thing’, decorating a crown and making a gable hood to wear. The Royal Courtiers (Regal Rose Historical Portrayal) will be present from 11am to 3pm, with opportunities to pose for photos with Tudor royalty. Stamford Ramblers Walk - A nine mile walk starting at 10am from Morrison’s car park, Stamford. The route follows the river to Uffington, across the fields to Barnack, then along the edge of Hills and Hollows, returning along the Hereward Way past the Walcott estate and through Burghley Park back to Stamford. Monthly Jazz Jam Session - 6pm-9pm, The Theatre Lounge, Stamford Corn Exchange. Come along to sing, play or listen to an evening of jazz. Led by professional house band Jay Stebb Jazz quartet, you can bring your instrument or vocals to join in or chill with a drink. Free entry.
