Melton beauty queen appears on Come Dine With Me

It may look like relaxing fun appearing on popular television show Come Dine With Me but for beauty queen Chloe Jardine-Price the four long days of filming and partying left her absolutely shattered.

The 27-year-old reigning Miss Rutland, who lives in Chadwell, near Melton, was one of the four contestants who featured in the shooting of an episode last week.

The Channel Four show challenges four amateur chefs to cook a meal for the other guests and then compete against each other to see who can throw the best dinner party, with a £1,000 first prize up for grabs.

Although Chloe could only finish fourth after everyone cast their marks out of 10 for the others it was a memorable experience for her.

She said: “I was so tired after filming finished on Friday and I still am.

“It’s not like going out to dinner like you normally would because we were eating pudding at 1am and getting home in a taxi at 3am for four nights running.

“It is very strenuous appearing on the programme but it was a one-off experience for all of us.”

Chloe, who works at Town and Country Petfoods in Melton, was invited to appear on the show after she won the beauty pageant last month. It didn’t take her long to accept, being a keen fan of the show.

But she was surprised how structured the programme was with the producer sitting behind the camera telling contestants what to say to the others.

“I watch it all the time and I love the way the commentator Dave Lamb talks about the guests on each programme,” she said. “My friends and family think it is funny that I’m going to be on Come Dine With Me because they know I am out-spoken and opinionated and I did try to be myself during the filming.”

When the single film crew descended on the tiny community of Chadwell for Chloe’s night - the third of the four - she said no-one was even aware they were there.

She hosted a Mexican night, decorating her dining room with Sombrero hats and inflatable cacti and cooking three authentic dishes. The starter was cheesy nachos with pulled chicken followed by a main course of spicy Mexican beef stew and a dessert of chimichangas.

Chloe recalled: “I literally look awful when I am being filmed cooking - my hair is all over the place, but that is me when I am at home.

“I can be quite quick-witted and the crew liked it when I cut into a guacamole which was pure mould inside and I said I was preparing guacamouldy.

“Everyone ate my food although the others picked on me a bit because I hadn’t made it all myself. I think it is more about the quality of the dinner party though and they all had a good time.”

Chloe has not been told when the show will be on the air but it will be an hour-long programme broadcast during the next series.
