South Lincolnshire museum 'delighted' with their award

Owners of a south Lincolnshire museum are delighted to be honoured with an award in recognition of the work they’ve done to make their attraction accessible to older people.

The Museum of Technology – The History of Gadgets and Gizmos, in Throckenholt, has been acknowledged by YMCA Lincolnshire as an Age-friendly Business.

Owners Rosemary Hourihane and Trevor Cass were recently presented with the accreditation, which states they have met the required standards in a number of areas, including respect and inclusion, customer comfort, accessibility and clear marketing and communications.

The museum, which opened in 2016, showcases thousands of rare and unique items dating from 1850 to 1980, including scientific and electrical equipment and artefacts relating to warfare, telephony and communications.

It also has a community room available to care homes, dementia groups and other clubs where visitors can access memory boxes and prompts.

The museum is currently closed until May, but will open for groups of ten or more, where it can provide a warm space and a unique experience remembering the Good Old Days.
