Jacqui Dankworth and Charlie Wood play tribute to great music partnerships at Newark Palace Theatre




Duo Jacqui Dankworth and Charlie Wood are at Newark’s Palace Theatre on Saturday (October 8) with an evening of duets.

Multi award-winning vocalist Jacqui Dankworth and acclaimed American piano-vocalist Charlie Wood will celebrate a century of song, inspired by some of the great musical partnerships.

It includes Ray Charles and Betty Carter, Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn, George and Ira Gershwin and Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway.

Their concert will feature numbers including Alone Together, Autumn In New York, It Don’t Mean A Thing, A Foggy Day, The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face and You’ve Got a Friend.

Also at the Palace next week is the nostalgia show Railways Remembered a week today, featuring reels from the 1930s and 1950s.
