A basic photography course will run at Grantham’s Jubilee Centre later this month.

The centre, in St Catherine’s Road, is home to Jubilee Canvas Prints, a ‘not-for-profit’ charity working with young people with learning difficulties from various schools and organisations in the area, in particular the Grantham Additional Needs Fellowship.

Students are able to develop new skills by running a small café as well as the canvas printing project, helping them to develop interpersonal skills and increase their self-confidence and self-esteem.

Project co-ordinator Lez Jones said: “I am an unpaid volunteer and work with these students several days a week, and thereafter, running the canvas printing project, producing quality canvas prints for the public at usually half the high street cost.

“The very small profit is used to support the charity.

“Whilst working in the print shop, I have had several requests for assistance in using cameras and other such equipment, to develop better understanding of basic digital photographic techniques. Therefore, we have decided to run a six-week course on basic photography techniques and digital photography.”

The course run on Mondays from January 19, 6.30pm-8.30pm. It will incorporate basic techniques of digital photography, from how to use a camera through to professional creative techniques and composition.

Admission on to the course is £40, to cover room hire and other costs.

To sign up, call Lez on 07772 779202 or email ljones059@hotmail.co.uk or jcprint@jubileegrantham.co.uk
