Holbeach Food Festival 2021 makes its grand return this weekend
Holbeach Food Festival organisers hope you’ve built up an appetite - with the event set to make its grand return this weekend.
After being curtailed last summer because of Covid-19 restrictions, extra work has gone into making this year’s event extra special.
Running from 10am-4pm on both Saturday and Sunday at Carter’s Park, you can expect to find a wide variety of local produce.
South Holland District Council’s deputy leader Nick Worth has spearheaded the preparations and can’t wait to get up and running.
“I think everyone is excited to get under way now. I certainly am!” he said.
“We’re looking forward to it. We’ve got some of our regular stall holders as well as some new ones, and there will be some new craft stalls as well.
“We’re hoping for a good weekend which will give people an opportunity to get out, meet people and help the local economy.”
Coun Worth is delighted to have the popular festival back up and running after he and fellow food-lovers wer forced to miss it last year.
“We’re doing it with renewed enthusiasm,” he said. “We’ll have the strongman and strongwoman competition, which always draws quite a lot of people in. I’m looking forward to seeing other people tire themselves out - good luck with that!
“It’ll hopefully draw a lot of people from Holbeach in and we’ll keep our fingers crossed that the weather holds for us over the weekend.
“We’re looking forward to tasting some different foods and different drinks.”
Coun Worth promises there will be an incredible range of local produce.
“There will be anything from truffle brownies, ice creams and what I’d call traditional butcher foods.
“We have goat meat companies to offer something a little bit different, and one company will provide shellfish.
“Soft fruit will be available, and home-made ciders from Spalding will be there along with the regular bar.
“There will be some background music, and an inflatable obstacle course to entertain the kids and to keep them busy.”
