Concerts of commemoration and peace in Gosberton and Spalding this Saturday
With all proceeds going towards the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, Gosberton’s branch has organised a fundraising concert marking the centenary of the end of WWI, writes Patrick Walsh.
The Banovallum Brass Band will play in the village's St Peter and St Paul’s Church at 7.30pm on Saturday (November 17) with an evening that promises to be very good.
“It’s important that people don’t forget those who died fighting,” said the branch's treasurer Debbie Reynolds.
“It’s also important as it’s the 100 year anniversary of the end of the First World War.”
There will be a raffle to raise some extra funds.
Tickets are £7, including refreshments, and are available from Debbie Reynolds on 01775 841585.
On the same day, a concert by Spalding choir Mirinesse, will take place at Broad Street Methodist Church - also to commemorate the centenary.
The concert, called Music for Commemoration and Peace (1918-2018), is also in aid of Vision21 to fund building works to repair and improve the building.
Tickets are £6, including refreshments, and are available from Tuesday coffee mornings or on 01775 640381.
