Restaurant boss Jim’s fundraising effort off to a flyer

Sweet toothed diners have got restaurant boss Jim Trevor’s fundraising bid off to a grand start - swelling the coffers by £1000.

Jim (49), who owns The Beehive pub/restaurant off Bourges Boulevard in Peterborough, and the Six Bells at Witham on the Hill in Rutland, will spend 60 days crossing the Pyrenees mountains - 540 miles of footpath, lanes and tracks along the border between Spain and France in June next year with 21-year-old son James.

Their aim is to raise up to £50,000 through sponsorship and other endeavours for the Make A Wish Foundation.

Since September the two restaurants have included a “Jim’s charity dessert” on the menu - with £1 from each sale going into the charity pot.

And a happy jim was over the moon reaching the £1,000 total so soon.

“The charity dessert is really selling well and to have raised £1,000 in such a short space of time with £1 from a single pudding is quite staggering. A big high five to our customers,” he said.

“It is an unbelievable start.”

The charity dessert will be available at the restaurants until the Pyrenees trek next year and charity dinners at both establishments are also planned.
