So glad I spent my Friday evening with Tenors Un Limited

On Friday evening one of my favourite groups, Levellers, were playing in Boston and there was a World Cup classic on the box as Portugal and Spain shared a six goal thriller, but I'd arranged to take my wife to see Tenors Un Limited in Spalding... and I'm delighted I did.

This really isn't the kind of show I would usually attend but I went with an open mind, which was then totally blown by a magnificent performance.

The number one selling operatic trio - known as the Rat Pack of opera - were in town as part of their 15 Year Celebration and the whole evening had that special feeling.

Scott Ciscon (tenor) Paul Martin (bass-baritone) and Jem Sharples (tenor) were certainly nodding towards the famous Three Tenors when they formed in 2003 but with their fantastic vocals, engaging personalities and fantastic showmanship, they are no tribute act.

Performing iconic songs across a variety of genres, from classics such as Nessun Dorma and The Pearl Fishers Duet to pop classics like Unchained Melody, Michael Buble's Everything and You Raise Me Up, the trio entertained from start to finish.

Twice they invited local choir A Handful of Harmonies on to the stage and, under musical director Andrew Clingo, this was so much more than a nice touch. The ladies delighted the packed audience with a version of The Wind Beneath My Wings and superbly backed the tenors during Barcelona and Nessun Dorma.

The boys serenaded audience members, laughed and joked but, most importantly, produced knockout delivery to thrill an excited and appreciative crowd.

Everyone probably has their own favourite from the evening but mine was their interpretation of the Dylan classic Make You Feel My Love, which was simply spine tingling.

We're so lucky to have an arts centre that brings such fine acts to south Lincolnshire - long may it continue.
