An upcoming Rutland folk band has kicked off what could be a huge 2015 with the digital release of their first full-length EP.

All’s Spent, by The Tin Pigeons, became available for download on iTunes on Saturday.

The band, made up of brothers George and Fraser Norton, Thomas Quemby and Douglas Tawn, has been steadily building a following in the Rutland and Stamford area since 2011 with their mix of traditional folk instruments and modern pop melodies.

They plan to make 2015 a busy year, and earlier this year spent several days recording some of their most popular songs to give fans something to take away from their shows.

“The title track is not indicative of our current position,” joked singer and mandolin player Douglas.

“We are planning to spend a year on the road and playing live as much as possible. We will see where that takes us.

“It’s really good to have the EP as something to promote while we are doing that.”

The band has been restricted to touring during school or university holidays since their formation. But this year they plan to be on the road for much longer.

Douglas said: “We were having so much fun and it was kind of a bummer that we were going back to school. There was a fear that the momentum would be lost.”

All’s Spent features the title track, If You Mean It, Salinas and Over Tennessee. It is on sale on iTunes for £3.96 and should be available to buy at Tin Pigeons gigs later in the year.
