Each year a talented local musical theatre group takes to the stage at Uppingham Theatre.

This year’s production of Oliver! performed by Rutland Musical Theatre is a show that the group performed to a packed theatre more than 10 years ago.

With an all-star local cast the show will take the audience back to the grey, crime-ridden streets of Victorian London, full of poverty, misery and deprivation .

Some of the actors were involved in the previous sell-out show and it is hoped that this year’s production of Oliver! will be a real show stopper.

From the workhouse to London Bridge, follow the story of the most well known orphan on the stage as he tries to fit in. The majority of Fagin’s gang are Rutland schoolchildren.

With a great set and live orchestra accompanying the story throughout the audience can sing along to some of the most popular songs on the musical stage.

The play is based on the well-known, classic novel, Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens. The music and lyrics are by Lionel Bart by arrangement with Musicscope and Stage Musicals Limited of New York.

Tickets are £13.50, ( £12.50 ) and £8 for children. Performances run from Tuesday, April 14 to Saturday, April 18, at 7.15pm and there will be a matinee at 2.30pm on the Saturday.

Tickets are available from Uppingham Sports and Books; Music and More, Oakham; Stamford Music Shop, and wegottickets.com. Box office: 01572 822788.
