Rutland Pie Company founder celebrates perfect score from judges
The founder of the Rutland Pie Company is celebrating after winning a prize at the Newark and Nottinghamshire County Show.
Ian Curtis, who set up the Oakham-based business just over a year ago, won the show’s sweet pie and pastry category with a perfect score for his apple pie.
The honour follows on from recent success at the British Pie Awards, where Ian was highly commended in the dessert pie class and won a number of awards for his steak, ale and mushroom and chicken, ham and leek pies.
Ian said: “I am very proud that my apple pie received a perfect score – it doesn’t get any better than that.
“Judges were particularly impressed with the pastry, which they described as ‘amazing’.”
