It's been ten years since The Ukulele Orchestra of Spalding formed and a concert to celebrate will be held next month.

They'll also be raising money for the Alzheimer's Society at the event on Saturday, October 13, which they have entitled 'Happy Memories.'

People will be able to 'raise their voices' with good old sing-song of popular tunes that both the orchestra and their audiences have enjoyed over the past ten years, while supporting the fight against Dementia at the same time.

The concert is at the South Holland Centre in Spalding at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £10, available from the centre at www.southhollandcentre.co.uk or by calling 01775 764777.

The Ukulele Orchestra of Spalding has 55 members, plays multiple concerts throughout the year and raises around £5,000 each year for various charities.

It was started by Will Dunlop who put out a newspaper advert asking if anyone wanted to learn to play the ukulele.

The orchestra plays everything from Ed Sheeran, to the Beatles, Buddy Holly and the Eagles and songs from Victorian musicals - with musical direction from Zeph Churchill.
