So much to enjoy in Lincoln
From flower festivals to iconic culinary celebrations, Lincoln really has something for everyone on the calendar this year.
The historic city provides the perfect backdrop for families and friends looking to head out this year and experience something different.
Whether for a week away or just a ‘daycation’, the following festivals are an excellent reason to head to Lincoln and take in the sights.
On Saturday, July 23 and Sunday, July 24, the Lincoln 1940s Weekend will be taking place.
Visitors can experience the spirit of 1940s Britain with two days of vintage performances, activities and classic vehicle displays in Lincoln’s historic Cathedral Quarter and across the city.
The Lincoln Cathedral Flower Festival will be taking place on Thursday, August 4.
Celebrating 950 years of Lincoln Cathedral, the theme of this year’s festival is ‘Vision’. Stunning displays will blossom in every area of the magnificent Lincoln Cathedral, bringing it to life in a unique and inspiring way.
The festival will celebrate the life and works of St Hugh of Lincoln, as well as many other notable visionaries whose ideas and actions have shaped the world we live in and changed our lives.
The displays will cover poetry, theatre, film, and fashion, along with history, exploration, invention, and more.
At the end of August, Lincoln will be home to the biggest steampunk festival in the world.
From August 26 to August 29, Lincoln Steampunk Festival features a programme of art, literature, music, fashion, and comedy. You can also expect highlights such as the Steampunk Market, Jet Pack Race, and Tea Duelling.
Later in the year, there will be tasty treats to enjoy.
On Saturday, October 15, Lincoln Sausage Festival will take place, where visitors can tuck in to more than 30,000 individual sausages on the day.
Set against the stunning backdrop of Lincoln Castle, a host of stalls and vendors from all over the region will fill the castle grounds, selling their tastiest treats for visitors to enjoy.
