Stamford Photographic Society finds patterns
The subject for the Stamford Photographic Society’s February competition was patterns.
Members entered images on a wide variety of subjects including plants, ice, dancers, architecture, birds and lizards.
First in both the single picture and panel of four shots were black and white images by David Townshend. The panel contrasted natural and man-made patterns - the winning single image was the Paternoster Air Vents in London. Members commented on how monochrome helps to reveal underlying patterns.
Other successful images were Sue Haynes’ creative marbles in a vase and Sue West’s striking baby green iguana taken in Brazil – part of her panel of ‘scaley patterns’. In contrast, but equally colourful, were Robin Pearson’s images of flowers, showing the variety of patterns arising from the same basic structure.
The next meeting will be on Thursday, March 19 at 8pm at Great Casterton Church Hall. The society will be holding its first Digital Projected Image competition, with an invited judge.
Visitors and new members are very welcome to each meeting. Visit www.stamford-photosoc.org.uk or contact secretary Dave Baxter 01780 751849 for further details of the society’s monthly meetings.
