Newark Festival to return with headliners McFly, plus Gabrielle, Lamar...and Vernon Kay

Organisers have confirmed Newark Festival will return this year – with McFly as the headline act.

It has been reduced to one day because of coronavirus, but organiser Liz Hobbs Group hopes the festival will give people a real lift as restrictions are lifted.

In addition to chart-toppers McFly, the Ellis Mathers presents Newark Festival line-up will be Gabrielle, Lemar and Vernon Kay with a DJ set.

It takes place at Riverside Park on Saturday, August 21.

McFly are one of the most successful chart acts of their era with seven UK number-one singles, six top-10 albums, six sell-out tours and 4m tickets and 10m albums sold worldwide.

They said: “We are stoked to be playing Newark Festival this summer. We are desperate to get out and play to our fans.

“While we’ve been trying to keep in contact with our fans online, nothing’s the same as being on stage. Bring it on – see you in August.”

Joining McFly is Gabrielle. The Masked Singer star made an immediate impact when her debut single Dreams spent three weeks at number one in the summer of 1993. Her second number one single, the anthem Rise, followed in 2000. A catalogue of hits followed. More recently, her new album Do It Again charted at number four in the UK album charts.

Vernon Kay will entertain the festival family with a DJ set. A huge personality of television and radio, Vernon will play ‘80s and ‘90s classics to get the festival party started.
