Strip off to set world record at Rat Race Dirty Weekend
Runners in this year’s Rat Race Dirty Weekend at Burghley House have been asked to take part in a cheeky challenge and set a world record.
The organisers of the 20-mile obstacle course have called on participants, supporters and people living nearby to strip off and break the record for the largest gathering of people in their underwear.
The challenge, named Dirty Undies, will take place at 8pm on Friday, May 8, the day before the race itself. People will be invited to rip off their clothes for a short 1km run, jog or walk in return for a free beer and the opportunity to secure their spot in the Guinness Book of World Records.
The record currently stands at 2,270, which was set in 2011 at the Utah Undie Run in the US.
All men that take part must wear nothing but underpants but women are allowed to wear either a shirt or bra with their knickers.
Rat Race managing director and creator of the Dirty Weekend Jim Mee said: “On the Friday evening, we would like to invite competitors, their supporters and local residents to come and join us in our attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most people gathered together in their underwear.
“We need over 2,270 people to break the record, but of course the more the merrier.
“Don’t worry about it being ‘nippy’ when you finish, as at the end we’ll gather everyone in the heated big top tent. Everyone who gets their kit off will be rewarded with a free beer, so here’s hoping we can all raise a pint to a room full of record breakers.”
