The gang’s all here and on show at the Deepings School

A cast of about 50 Scouts, Cubs, Guides, Brownies and Rainbows from Bourne, the Deepings and Stamford are taking centre stage for this year’s Deepings Gang Show.

The youngsters were joined by a 100-strong production crews for the four-night event at The Deepings School, Deeping St James, to mark the show’s 30th anniversary. A barnstorming cocktail of music, song and dance, featuring excerpts from popular West End shows such as Frozen, Oliver and Riverdance, thrilled sell-out audiences for both matinee and evening performances on Saturday. The show’s director Ian Henderson said: “The show’s been well-received and we’ve seen some fantastic talent, both on and off the stage. “We started our rehearsals back in September with a 50-strong cast who were very young this years, including a Junior Gang of about 16 youngsters who were phenomenal. “The show included an item called Cold Chill, based around the film Frozen, but there were also items of song, music and dance based around the original Gang Show in 1932. “Some of the sketches were written by members of our team, so it was a proud moment when I was appointed to be the director of this 30th show.” The first Deeping Gang Show was held in 1986 to celebrate the tenth anniversary of 1st Market Deeping Scout Group and it has been staged at The Deepings School ever since. Ian said: “The school has been perfect as a venue and we’ve had people at the show this year who were involved in the very first one. “It is an immense privilege to be part of this wonderful game called Scouting and there is no greater feeling than being part of this special Gang.”
