Torvill and Dean announce skating retirement and farewell UK tour on 40th anniversary of winning Winter Olympics gold medal in Sarajevo 1984 with famous Bolero routine.
One of the UKs most famous sporting couples have announced their retirement 40 years on from Olympic glory.
In 1984 Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean captured the heart of the nation as their now famous ice skating routine to Revel’s Bolero was broadcast around at the Sarajevo Winter Olympics, taking home the gold medal and became the highest-scoring figure skaters of all time for a single programme.
The Nottingham duo confirmed they would hang up they skates after a farewell live UK tour next year, including a homecoming to Nottingham’s Motorpoint Arena on April 23 and 24, 2025.
The 28 date tour ‘Torvill and Dean: Our Last Dance’ will also coincide with the 50th anniversary of the pair forming their famous partnership.
It will kick off in London on April 12 and travel across the UK before their final ever performance in Glasgow on May 11, 2025, with tickets now on sale at TorvillandDean.com.
The pair later went on to join as the popular television show Dancing on Ice, where they are now head judges.
