Can you handle The Daddy? Wyberton pub set to introduce monster Sunday roast to menu today
A monster Sunday roast known as The Daddy will be added to a pub’s menu from today.
The giant plate includes a generous selection of meats, mashed and roasted potatoes, and Yorkshire puddings stuffed with, you’ve guessed it, stuffing.
And for the healthy minded of you, there’s also plenty of veg.
The Daddy will be dished up for the first time at Wyberton’s Hammer & Pincers from today (Sunday, August 4).
“Most people’s eyes are bigger than their bellies, let’s say,” revealed landlady Gemma Richardson, throwing the gauntlet down for daring diners.
“It’s a challenge to see if you can finish it.”
The huge Sunday favourite has previously proven a hit at The Castle, at Haltoft End, near Boston, but with the owners handing back the keys to that venue, they felt it was time for The Daddy to be introduced to a new fanbase.
While the roast used to arrive served up at The Castle, it will form part of the carvery at The Hammer, meaning it can be tweaked to the diner’s taste.
But this monster meal won’t be the only change to the Hammer, which Gemma will have run for a year this weekend.
The lunchtime and evening menus will be tweaked with dishes such as meat platters, sizzlers and brie wedges added, while youngsters will also be catered for.
“We’re sorting the kids’ play area out now, we’re trying to make it as kiddy friendly as we can,” Gemma added.
The pub’s regular Sunday carvery - which will now include turkey - costs £12.50 while The Daddy is priced £16.50.
The Hammer’s new menu will be revealed on its Facebook page this weekend, while news of live entertainment planned for the coming months will also be revealed on social media.
