A1 near Grantham closed again as flooding continues to cause disruption in Lincolnshire




The A1 is still closed as a result of flooding.

Flooding continues to cause chaos across Lincolnshire and Rutland today (Tuesday, January 7), as the A1 near Grantham is closed again.

The road is closed from the B6326 Balderton and Claypole turnoff to Gonerby Lane, and between the A607 Harlaxton and Melton Mowbray turnoff and Valley Lane.

A major incident was declared in both Lincolnshire and Rutland yesterday as a result of the flooding, and East Midlands Ambulance Service has declared a critical incident.

Other routes affected in the county are:

• A15 Aslackby north of Bourne and Folkingham

• B1394 Swaton Lane, closed both ways between Parson’s Drove and the A52 Holland Road

• A151 Corby Glen

• A6003 Manton Bridge - there are still temporary traffic lights as the road is down to one lane

Spalding Academy is also shut this morning due to a ‘utility issue’.

Due to flooding between Peterborough and Leicester, trains running through are also affected.

Rail replacement buses are running between the two stations, calling at Stamford, Oakham and Melton Mowbray.

Charles Read Academy, Leasingham St Andrew’s CE Primary School and Spalding Academy are all closed today as a result of the weather.

Belton House, near Grantham, is also closed today as there is ‘extensive flooding’ in the playground, parkland and gardens.

A powercut has also been reported in Bottesford, near Grantham, leaving 103 properties without power.

National Grid has sent out engineers to the area and estimates the power will be restored by 2pm.

There are also 36 flood warnings and 29 flood alerts for the area.
