Sink-hole plagued Boston Road South in Holbeach set to re-open at start of next week
Work on a busy road which has had more than £450,000-worth of repairs carried out on it is expected to be finished by the start of next week.
Boston Road South in Holbeach - which has been plagued with a sink hole - closed on Monday (June 17) to allow Anglian Water and Lincolnshire County Council to carry out further work.
Now Anglian Water have finished their work, LCC are hoping to get their resurfacing done over the coming days.
An LCC spokesperson said: "Now that Anglian Water has finished it's repair, we aren't going to wait until next week to get on with reinstating the road.
"We are undertaking the resurfacing works this weekend with the plan to finish the job off by close of play on Monday, barring any unforeseen issues.
"We are doing everything we can to get the road back to full working order for the residents and local school."
Lincolnshire County Council and Anglian Water have spent thousands of pounds on Boston Road South, Holbeach, in recent years trying to resolve the problem with the sink hole, which included relining the sewer two years ago - but the significant dip has returned again prompting concerns about the safety of the road from locals.
Issues with sinking in Boston Road South first began in 2019, but these were reported further up the street before moving down.
Excavations and repairs were undertaken in 2021.
And in 2022, the road underwent significant repair work which included Anglian Water relining the sewer.
More than £462,296 was spent on various investigations and works over the years, a Freedom of Information request revealed in 2022.
The road was closed in recent months for investigation work and temporary repairs.
