Lincoln welcomes Community RePaint Store at Great Northern Terrace Household Waste Recycling Centre

A new store that gives residents access to free, reusable paint has opened today (Friday, July, 11).

Lincoln has welcomed the Community RePaint Store at Great Northern Terrace Household Waste Recycling Centre which has seen success at Louth, Grantham, and Tattershall Household Waste Recycling Centres.

The UK-wide paint reuse network - sponsored by Dulux and operating 80 schemes nationally - collects unused and leftover paint that would otherwise go to waste and makes it available to residents completely free of charge.

Coun Danny Brookes (Reform), executive member for environment at Lincolnshire County Council, said: "We're really pleased to see the Community RePaint network expanding across Lincolnshire.

“These stores offer a brilliant way for residents to access free paint, save money, and do their bit for the environment at the same time."

The store offers a wide variety of paints in different colours and finishes for those tackling a room or a creative project and helps to promote sustainable living.

Coun Rebecca Longbottom, portfolio holder for remarkable places at City of Lincoln Council, said: "This is a fantastic initiative that brings real benefits to our communities.

“Not only does it reduce waste, but it also supports residents by providing quality paint for free.

“It’s a great option for cost-effective home improvements and community projects.

"We hope everyone across our local areas will get on board and make use of the scheme, showing how practical, sustainable solutions can have a positive impact on everyday lives."

Residents wishing to take advantage of the Community RePaint scheme — whether to drop off paint or collect some — can speak to a member of staff on site.

The types of paint available depend on what has been brought in for disposal, but most types are accepted.

The Community RePaint Store is open to all recycling centre visitors from 9am to 4pm, Friday to Tuesday.
