BBC Great British Menu judge Nisha Katona gears up for the opening for the new Mowgli Indian street food restaurant in Lincoln

A judge on hit BBC television series The Great British Menu is gearing up to bring the taste of India to a ‘perfect and cute’ location in our county.

Reservations are now open for Nisha Katona’s restaurant, Mowgli, which is set to welcome its first customers on Friday, June 21.

The new Indian street food restaurant is located on High Street in Lincoln and Nisha is full of enthusiasm about the new venture — and what she sees as a Harry Potter-style building in which to open up the latest in her popular chain of eateries.

She said: “I have been looking for that perfect, cute Diagon Alley kind of building in Lincoln – a place close to my heart as I worked there as a lawyer and always dreamt of taking my family dishes back there as a thank you for the fond memories.

“Everything is cooked fresh by our team of chefs every morning, and every day we know we are only as good as our last curry. We hope diners will love Mowgli’s passion for healthy, fresh Indian food.

“I’m full of enthusiasm and for every Mowgli, we create jobs for foodies, and aim to raise more than £500,000 per year for charity.”

The business plans to donate money to a charity geared towards making life better for Lincolnshire hospital patients.

Nisha added: “To make Lincoln truly our home, we will adopt the United Lincolnshire Hospital Charity as our house charity – which was recommended by those who dine with us.”

Ben Petts, Charity Manager for The United Lincolnshire Hospitals Charity, said: "We feel really honoured and excited to have been chosen by Mowgli Lincoln as their house charity.

“The United Lincolnshire Hospitals Charity provides patients and staff with the extras not funded through the NHS. These are the items that can often make a massive difference. A huge thank you on behalf of our staff and patients."
