Fenland CAMRA branch appealing for former members to join 50th anniversary party
A group that champions pubs and pints is preparing to celebrate its 50th birthday… and the search is on for old members to join in with the knees up.
The Fenland branch of CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) will be holding its half-century celebration.
The group covers pubs and breweries across the region, including Spalding, Long Sutton, Holbeach, Boston, Skegness, Sleaford, Horncastle, Billingborough, Coningsby, Chapel St Leonards and all the villages in between.
The branch's 50th anniversary will be held at the 8 Sail Brewery Bar on Hale Road, Heckington on Saturday, June 22, from 1pm.
“Our branch was formed on June 21, 1974 and our founder member, Rodney Girdlestone, sadly no longer with us, was instrumental in setting the branch up in the early days, and among many other roles was the editor of our local branch newsletter,” said member Malcolm Phillips.
The group are now calling on former members to come and join them at the event, conveniently located near Heckington Railway Station.
“We do hope you are able to join us on June 22,” Malcolm added.
