Storm Darragh resulted in 1,000 homes in Lincolnshire losing power
Officials say approximately 1,000 Lincolnshire homes lost their electricity supply as a result of Storm Darragh over the weekend.
Power was cut off in properties across the county as electricity supply lines were damaged in the strong winds and heavy rain which swept over the county over Saturday and Sunday.
Homes in the Gosberton area suffered a power cut on Saturday night with issues continuing throughout Sunday as strong winds continued to batter the region.
National Grid Electricity Distribution says that at the peak of the incident, yesterday morning (Sunday, December 8), 1,000 county homes lost their supply.
Engineers were working over the weekend and had reconnected the supply to the majority of properties. Only 54 were left without power earlier today (Monday, December 12).
Roisin Quinn, Field Operations Director at National Grid Electricity Distribution, said: “The adverse weather has made working conditions for our engineers challenging but they are continuing to make progress - tackling faults to get people’s power back on as speedily and safely as they can. Since the start of the storm, we have restored over 1.5million properties in the Midlands, South West, and South Wales.
“We’d like to thank customers across Lincolnshire for their patience if they’ve been affected by Storm Darragh. Our engineering teams have been working around the clock to get homes and businesses reconnected as quickly and safely as possible.”
