Man, 36, pronounced dead after collision on A17 at Swineshead




A man has died following a collision on the A17 earlier today (Thursday, March 13).

Police had closed the A17 at Swineshead earlier today after a grey Ford Kuga car and a blue HGV were involved in a collision at 4.32am. A third vehicle, a white HGV, is also involved, colliding with debris at the scene.

Officers have now confirmed that the car driver, a 36-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A force spokesman said: “Our investigation is in the early stages while we work to establish the cause and circumstances of the collision.

“There is a significant amount of debris in the road, and both lanes are currently closed between the Stump Cross Lane junction and Bicker Bar roundabout to Swineshead Bridge while this is cleared, and collision investigation work undertaken.

“This clean up and investigation work is going to take a significant amount of time to ensure it is completed thoroughly, and we are advising people to avoid the area until at least 5pm today.

“We want to thank everyone who has so far proactively approached us with information, and appeal to anyone else we may not have spoken with to come forward with any information they have.”
