Aldi is due to open its new Holbeach store early next year
A new budget supermarket is due to be welcoming shoppers early next year.
Aldi is currently constructing a new store in Fleet Street, Holbeach, after purchasing a former South Holland District Council depot site.
The chain has confirmed that the new supermarket - which will create 40 jobs - is due to be open in the first quarter of next year.
However, local reports suggest that it could be welcoming customers on January 25.
A spokesman for Aldi stated: “I can confirm that the store is scheduled to open in Quarter 1 of 2025.”
The application had been granted by South Holland District Council’s planning committee in March 2023.
Another supermarket chain, Lidl, has also previously confirmed that it is eyeing up Holbeach as a potential site for a new store.
Lidl has issued a brochure of towns in which it would be interested in buying land in – and Holbeach is on that list. Spalding is also listed within the brochure, but the retailer already has two stores in the town.
