Commercial Road in Spalding should be open before ‘tomorrow’s rushhour’
A road which has been closed all week - creating a nightmare for motorists - is due to be reopened shortly.
Commercial Road in Spalding has been closed since Sunday while Anglian Water repaired a problem with its sewer.
But this closure along with that of nearby Queens Road has helped to create a nightmare for drivers trying to navigate around the town - with some people reporting that the five minute school run is now taking nearly an hour.
A spokesman for the company says that the the team are finishing up the reinstatement of the road today and promises ‘it will be reopened before rush hour tomorrow morning (Friday, September 20)’.
The firm say four tankers were used to pump away waste from Commercial Road after a water main on the sewage network burst on Sunday.
South Holland District Council leader Nick Worth has today called for better co-ordination of roadworks to prevent the town grinding to a halt in the future.
