Bourne couple will get married at The Woodlands Hotel in Pinchbeck Road as thousands visit Spalding Flower Parade during their wedding

A couple will be saying ‘I do’ among thousands of paradegoers — as they get married during the heart of Spalding’s showpiece event.

Hollie Mason, 24, and Bradley O’Cruelly, 26, from Bourne booked their wedding at The Woodlands Hotel on Pinchbeck Road the same day as Spalding Flower Parade on Saturday, May 10.

They have big plans for the day, including having their beloved dogs will walk them down the aisle — and have more exciting news to share with their guests, as the couple are expecting a baby. But they’re also going to embrace the feelgood mood in the town and make the most of tying the knot during the busy parade day in the middle of the route.

Hollie said: “It is all go at the moment - it is crazy.

“Initially I thought how am I going to make this work due to the road closures.

“We managed to get in touch with a member of the parade team and from the get go they have been amazing.”

The floats leave from Springfields at about 11am. This year they will head along Roman Bank and head along Halmer Gate and across High Bridge and through the town before reaching Pinchbeck Road. Hollie reached out by email to one of the parade volunteers, Mick to discuss the logistics of their guests arriving for the ceremony which starts at 1pm.

She said: “He rang me straight away and said they will do everything to make it as smooth as possible.

“Everyone is aware and coming early to make sure they can get through the road closures and watch the parade go by.

“With the crowds, it will be nice to remember.”

Hollie, a self-employed nanny, and Brad, a haulage technician, met in May, 2022 and — after a first date at GloGolf in Peterborough — they soon moved in together.

Their pets, Jax a Husky aged one and Lottie a ‘vocal Spaniel’ aged two will walk them down the aisle.

Hollie said: “We have got a registrar to do the ceremony.

“It is not very traditional as we are having the dogs involved.

“Jax will walk down the aisle with Brad and Lottie will walk down with my maid of honour.”

One tradition however will be Hollie’s wedding dress - and not to be out-dressed by newly-crowned Flower Queen Erika Yao — she is tight-lipped about it.

She said: “I will be wearing my wedding dress and for most it is a surprise.

“My mum has seen it but not with everything yet.

“Hopefully it will be a lovely day.”

The couple are expecting their first baby — having found out Hollie is 12 weeks pregnant — so a honeymoon is on ‘paws’ for now.

She said: “We are not really abroad people.

“We haven't planned a honeymoon straight away but may go somewhere before the baby is here.

“We would much rather have the dogs with us and go somewhere like Cornwall.”

Guests will be attending the ceremony at 1pm and enjoy the wedding breakfast followed by music and dancing — and, of course, guest will take chance to see the flower parade.

Hollie added: “Last year was the first time we properly saw the flower parade.

“We went together and it was lovely last year.

“I don’t know many places that still do big events like this.

“As it was clashing with my wedding I have followed it closely — I am amazed at the work that goes into it — it’s insane.”
