Pinchbeck Village Hall race night raises £1,193 towards safety measures at Spalding Flower Parade
A race night has raised funds which will help to cover the cost of safety measures for Spalding’s showpiece flower parade.
The fundraising event took place at Pinchbeck Village Hall on Saturday night (March 29) and the money will pay towards ambulances and paramedics at Spalding Flower Parade in May.
Guests enjoyed betting on nine races with eight horses in each race and the night raised £1,193 in total.
Organiser Dave Mustoe said: “There were lots of people there and the room was full which was great.
“We are over the moon - it is fabulous.
“We were hoping to do well but that is very good and surpassed our expectations.”
Fundraising is crucial to the success of the parade — which is organised by a team of volunteers and an eight-strong committee.
Mr Mustoe said: “When we fundraise we always break it down into what it can buy for the parade.
“Through this fundraising alone we can pay for a CQC ambulance and paramedic.
“There is so much to do for the parade - making sure we have got enough money - as it is a huge logistical operation.”
Events for fundraising happen throughout the year and will continue so that the parade in 2026 can go ahead.
Mr Mustoe said: “People are so generous.
“It is wonderful.
“There are lots of things in the pipeline.”
These include bingo, quizzes and an oldies music night.
Due to the success of the race night there are plans to hold another.
Mr Mustoe added: “Everyone who I spoke to had a good time and thoroughly enjoyed it.
“At first they weren't sure how it would work but as soon as they saw the first race they bought into it.
“They want to know when the next one is.”
The flower parade is now only weeks away and the committee is pleased that everything is in place with the music line-up revealed for the weekend.
