Spalding’s Pudding Hut to host crochet class in a bid to boost business and promote new skills

A dessert shop will be getting in touch with its crafty side and offering something different for customers with a new evening class.

In a bid to improve business and ‘give people a reason to come back’ The Pudding Hut in Holland Market, Spalding, has been busy brainstorming new ideas.

The shop will host its first crochet class on Sunday (May 25) from 4pm.

Owner of the business, Vickie Turner, has always had a passion for crafts and will lead the session.

She said: “I noticed there wasn’t many groups available for those who work, so I wanted to offer something for people where they could learn new skills and meet others who have the same interest.

“I have always done arts and crafts since I was a child but crochet is my favourite.

“Our business is doing okay but it could be better. We are trying to fund ways to bring people in and give them a reason to want to come back.”

The beginner friendly class is free but Vickie encourages participants to purchase something from the shop whilst they are there to support the small business.

Attendees can bring their own projects with them or purchase a crochet starter kit from the Pudding Hut.

Vickie added: “We are hoping to make this a regular event and we’re looking at what other activities we can host in the future.

“So far we have had a lot of interest and we’re just hoping it boosts our business well.”

The former ice-cream shop had a re-brand earlier in the year.
