Record numbers attended Pinchbeck Carnival enjoying sunny weather, live music from Zebra and vintage cars

Record numbers were drawn to a popular village carnival.

The sun came out in the nick of time for the Pinchbeck Carnival.

Visitors enjoyed looking around stalls which were set up on the Rotten Row Playing Field along with live entertainment and a merry-go-round.

Vice-chair of the Pinchbeck Carnival Association, John Pailing said: “It was lovely.

“The rain cleared up just in time when the vintage cars and tractors came into the field.

“Everyone was milling around and more and more people were coming through the gates.”

Festivities began with a bingo evening on Friday night and a roast lunch in the village hall on Sunday - which was enjoyed by 80-90 people along with a quiz and a raffle.

Mr Pailing said: “It was a fun afternoon for the entire family and as they grow up children need something to look back on.

“I think we are losing, in a lot of respects, that cohesiveness as a village and everybody knowing everybody.

“We need something to focus on whether it's a carnival or an annual event at the church or the school - that's what village or town life is about.”

Secretary of the association, Jane Amess added: “We had a fantastic weekend and a record number of people attending.
